This is a long post, so bear with me :)

I tagged along with my friend, Kat, to a book signing event last night at Barnes and Noble in Tribeca. I didn’t know who the authors were at first - they were the Kallinis Sisters of the reality tv show DC Cupcakes. Yeah, kill me…I didn’t know them since I don’t really watch TLC in Manila plus our cable in Manila didn’t have Star World :( So, I got a bit of an idea who they were thanks to my friend and also contemplated on whether I should buy their book.

I ended up buying their book/cookbook :))

After waiting for them, they were a bit late…but it was ok, since they brought along with them boxes of cupcakes! Everyone got to try them out and I got Salted Caramel!

It was delish!! Definitely one of the best cupcakes I’ve ever tried and it was my instant fave! Instant fave since (a) it’s caramel and (b) it’s sooooooo delish!!! And here is my friend, Kat, with her Vanilla Cupcake:

Bought this last Sunday. I was thinking of going back to the classics and I’ve been hearing that Lolita is a nice read, so I grabbed it and checked it out (plus the book cover is beautiful :))

So now I only need to figure out when I can read this in peace :)

oh and Mike and Ike is the perfect sweets for reading books, plus its cheap!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Well, I don’t really celebrate this Hallmark-created ‘holiday’ but I had a date with my nerdy nerd side - with PowerBooks! Bought two books since lately I realized that I’m reading my mom’s books.

It felt as if I was reunited with a long-lost friend when I saw The Complete Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi on one of the shelves. I first saw this in Fully Booked years ago. I was smitten by this book since it’s not a typical book/memoir. It’s a story of a girl who grew up in Iran experiencing the hardship of living through the Islamic Revolution - which is told through comic strips. The book is humorous but in a morbid way. and I love it!

To balance things off, with dark humor and all, I bought Meg Cabot’s Queen of Babble. Yeah, I like chic-lit and I’m missing Sophie Kinsela since I read all the Shopaholic Books, Can You Keep a Secret?, Remember Me?, Undomestic Goddess, and Twenties Girl, so Meg Cabot’s my alternative.
